For Mailchimp accounts of 2k–100k contacts

Stop paying Mailchimp for ghosts

Mailchimp bills you for every contact — including the ones who unsubscribed, never open, and never bought a thing. acadion uses AI to spot the ones who are gone for good, archives them automatically, and drops your bill a tier. Every month.

Read-only audit first. Nothing is archived until you approve your rules. Archiving is reversible.

~30%

of a typical list is unsubscribed or hasn't engaged in over a year — and still gets billed.

$0

revenue from an unsubscribed contact. Mailchimp charges for them anyway.

$420/yr

typical savings for a 10k list after the first audit. Most accounts drop at least one billing tier.

Three steps, then it runs itself

No CSV exports, no Zapier duct tape, no monthly chore. Connect once and acadion keeps your audience — and your bill — clean.

STEP 1

Connect your Mailchimp

Secure OAuth — two clicks, no API keys. acadion runs a read-only audit and shows exactly which contacts cost you money and why.

STEP 2

Set your rules

Decide what "dead" means for your business: opens, clicks, purchases, or any combination. Preview who matches before anything happens.

STEP 3

Watch the bill drop

acadion archives on your schedule, guards against re-synced contacts, and sends you a monthly report: contacts archived, dollars saved.

You define dead. We do the digging.

Every business is different: a newsletter cares about opens, a store cares about orders. Your archiving rules match how you actually make money.

Archiving rules, your way

Combine open activity, click activity, purchase history, Mailchimp's own member rating and signup age with AND/OR logic. Apple Mail inflates opens — so you can lean on clicks and orders instead, and archive with confidence.

Audit non-subscribed contacts your integrations synced in — billable, never opted in. And set protections: VIP tags and top spenders are never touched, no matter what the rules say.

Never archive
lifetime spend over

Archive contacts who haven't opened in 180 days and haven't clicked in 90 days → on a 10,000-contact list, about 2,790 contacts match, protections applied.

Cross-audience dedupe

The same email in two audiences bills you twice. acadion finds duplicates, archives the redundant copies, and shows you the overlap so you can consolidate with tags.

Backlog audit

Years of unsubscribed and cleaned contacts archived in one batch run on day one — usually a full tier drop by itself.

Shopify re-sync guard

Integrations quietly un-archive contacts and your bill jumps back up. acadion re-audits on schedule so it stays down.

Reversible by design

Archiving is Mailchimp-native and undoable. Full log of every archived contact, restore any of them in one click.

Real-time unsubscribe watch

A webhook catches every new unsubscribe and archives it immediately — you never pay a full month for someone who left.

Savings report

A monthly email with the only metric that matters: contacts archived, tier before and after, dollars saved to date.

Preview & approve

See exactly who matches before any audit runs. Approve manually, or switch to autopilot once you trust your rules.

We connected our Mailchimp account in under five minutes and immediately found thousands of inactive contacts we were still paying for. The first audit dropped us to a lower billing tier and now it runs automatically every month.

I kept postponing list maintenance because it was always a manual project. acadion made it effortless. The preview gave me confidence before archiving anything, and the monthly savings paid for the tool almost immediately.

The rule builder is exactly what we needed. We based decisions on clicks and purchases instead of opens, which made much more sense for our store. We reduced costs without affecting active customers.

Finding duplicate contacts across audiences alone was worth it. We had no idea we were paying twice for so many subscribers. The audit was eye opening and the archiving was completely painless.

I love that everything is reversible. We reviewed the matches, approved the archive, and watched our Mailchimp bill drop the following cycle. It feels like one of those tools that should already exist.

Our Shopify integration kept bringing old contacts back into Mailchimp and our costs kept creeping up. acadion quietly fixes that in the background, so we don't have to think about it anymore.

Fair questions

Is archiving safe? Can I undo it?

Yes. Archiving is Mailchimp's own feature — the contact and their history stay intact, they just stop counting toward your bill. acadion keeps a log of every archived contact and you can restore any of them in one click.

Can I run it read-only and archive contacts myself?

Yes — that's the default. The audit only reads: it archives nothing. After that, every connected account has an Auto-archive switch, and with it off each audit stops with the matching contacts listed and waits for you. You approve the ones you want gone, or none of them. Anything already archived goes back just as fast — one contact, or an entire audit, from the archive log.

Could I lose subscribers who might come back?

If an archived contact signs up or buys again, they're automatically unarchived by Mailchimp and acadion won't touch them while they're active. You can also set conservative rules — say, a full year of silence across opens, clicks and orders — and preview every match before an audit.

Apple Mail says everyone opens my emails. Does that break this?

Apple's privacy features inflate open rates, which is exactly why acadion doesn't rely on opens alone. Combine clicks and purchase history in your rules — signals that can't be faked by a mail client.

I use multiple audiences. Am I paying for the same person twice?

Yes — Mailchimp counts the same email once per audience, so a contact in three audiences bills three times. acadion detects cross-audience duplicates, archives the redundant copies, and reports the overlap — the fastest route to the recommended "one audience + tags" setup without losing anyone.

Is this allowed by Mailchimp?

acadion uses Mailchimp's official public API and OAuth, the same way any registered integration connects. Archiving via API is a documented, supported operation.

Do you ever email my contacts or see my campaigns?

Never. acadion reads contact activity metadata and archives contacts — it doesn't send email, edit campaigns, or export your list anywhere.
